Features of Maeda Patent Office
1. Visit Clients On-site and Prompt Filing
Our policy puts an emphasis on the need to visit clients on-site. Due to this policy, we constantly visit clients and discuss their inventions with inventors. We believe that an effective patent cannot be obtained if we only view the outline of an inventive technology to draft a specification. It is important to actually observe facilities where inventions are created and discuss the inventions from a patentability point of view. This on-site visit helps us to create the concept of effective patent for protecting of our clients’ technologies and also leads to prompt filing of applications.
2. Training System to Develop High Quality IP Professionals
We spare no effort for training of intellectual property professionals to provide highly quality services to our clients. Senior attorneys supervise newly joined attorneys and technical staff members on one on one basis and train them until they reach a certain level to provide quality service to clients. We also have the system to regularly send senior attorneys overseas for training. The purpose of this training system is to ensure that our attorneys keep up the latest information and constantly provide useful information to our clients.
3. Achieving Broad Viewpoint through Working with Multiple Clients
In our firm, each staff member has responsibilities of three or more clients’ cases, as a general rule. We believe that we can understand technology of each client more deeply and also broaden our view point through working with several different clients. Through encounters with various different inventions and handling different cases from a broad viewpoint, our staff members can improve their ability and provide more efficient and appropriate advice to clients.
4. Accurate Document Management
When dealing with intellectual property related matters, we can't afford any mistakes in management of confidential information of clients. In our firm, we use our own computer system to manage data and information of each client. At the same time, our document management team consisting of competent and experienced document management staff members manually check data and information from/to each client. Through this double-check system using online and offline systems, we manage confidential documents of our clients without relying on only the computer system.
5. Excellent Translators
We have seven native foreign language speakers as in-house staff members. Since the foundation of our firm, we have made efforts to hire and develop staff members who are fluent in a variety of languages to meet clients’ globally growing needs. At present, we have nine English-Japanese translators, two Korean-Japanese translators, and six Chinese-Japanese translators as translation staff in our firm. We offer the highest level services in filing foreign applications in Japan.
6. Reliable Security System
We manage confidential information of clients in a highly secure manner by using our own security system. We use file transfer system for electric data exchange, prepare electronically available drawings for all applications, and use virtual dedicated terminals for online processing.
7. Study Groups Conducted by Specialists
For the purpose to improve our knowledge and skills, we organize study groups conducted by senior attorneys. The goal of study groups is to provide the latest and useful information to our clients. In each study group session, study group members bring new information and “know-hows” that they found through the daily practices and seminars outside the firm. Collected information is presented and shared throughout the firm and also provided to our clients if it is useful to the clients.
